Creating with Nature

Now available in North America, Europe and worldwide – David Gauntlet and me made a deck of creativity cards!

Published by Bis in Amsterdam, Creating with Nature is a deck of 54 cards, designed to ignite new ways of thinking and doing by reconnecting with the natural world.

The powerful connection between nature and creativity is no news for anyone. It has been recognized and used for centuries. However, we were inspired to create this deck by our research project, Reframing Creativity, in which we studied how creators adapt and pivot in moments of adversity.

When talking about the COVID-19 pandemic, one finding in our research was particularly striking:

Most creatives talked about having found a valuable connection to nature and ‘the great outdoors’ during the pandemic, even though nature was not a topic we had included in our list of questions.

They seemed eager to comment on how nature became a fundamental part of their lives, and easily found a way to weave their work and creative experiences amid the pandemic with nature-related answers. They wanted to discuss how the natural world became a fundamental part of their creative lives: a place to find inspiration, peace of mind, and reconnect to their creativity.

Whether you’re tackling a specific project, seeking to break through a creative block, or guiding a brainstorming session, Creating with Nature offers invaluable inspiration. It’s not just for structured projects – these cards can also be integrated into daily life, serving as a tool to create moments of reflection, rejuvenation, and care for your creative spirit.

Creating with Nature is for anyone wanting to unlock their creativity through nature. You can use them when working on a specific project, to overcome a creative block, guide a brainstorm session, or get inspired with a new perspective. But you can also use the deck as part of everyday life, to open up a space to recharge and care for your creative self.

You can get the from your favourite independent bookseller ( if they have stock!) or online in Canada ($22 CAD), USA ($15 USD) or UK (£13).
